Environmental assessments and action plans. Institution building.

  Our qualifications for environmental assessments are based on our broad knowledge of environmental problems related to industry. Environmental assessments have been made of copper and lead/zinc smelters in Bulgaria and of a multitude of industries (sugar refineries, tanneries, textile industries, vegetable oil factories, etc.) in Bolivia.

  A major task was to act as team leader and industrial pollution specialist in a World Bank project near Cairo, Egypt. Industries (cement, coke, iron and steel, secondary lead, telephone, brick etc.) and their impact upon the environment were studied in the Helwan industrial area. The project engaged about 50 experts and technicians.

Environmental action plans

  We elaborated the environmental program for the municipality of Gävle on the basis of reports from the local administration and were responsible for the elaboration of the National Environmental Action Plan for the energy and mining sectors in Serbia and the Local Environmental Action Plan for the mining sector in the Bor region in Serbia.

Institution building

  During one year we participated in building up the environmental authorities in Kosovo, in particular regarding routines for Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Licensing. We have also been engaged in the training of environmental inspectors in Egypt.
